Everything happens for a reason. At least that’s one of my life motto’s. Kristen and I had been trying to connect for a family session starting back in October. However, between her busy schedule and my busy schedule it just didn’t happen. So, we had decided to wait. Well, the day of their session it was very cold, windy and just miserable outside, it looked liked their family session was never going to happen. As fate would have it, the stars aligned and their session took place. Nature had rewarded us with the most BEAUTIFUL backdrop ever, we could not have picked a more perfect morning I would say it was the prettiest morning this winter.

Thanks Paul and Kristen for a great time, I am so happy to have been able to capture these wonderful memories and pictures for you. Enjoy the teasers.

I have lived in Minnesota all of my life, and still the weather baffles me. Last week it was 82 degrees, Sunny and beautiful, while this weekend it is 45 degrees windy and cold. I’m so thankful that my 2014 Fall Mini Sessions were held on a day with such great weather. So much time and a lot of effort goes into planning a full day of sessions, and if the weather didn’t cooperate I probably would’ve cried. Instead, I was able to meet 9 great families, and take hundreds of pictures. I really enjoyed my day, despite the mosquitos. Thank you to everyone who booked a mini sessions even if it meant you had miss part of the Vikings Game.

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful family. The light was perfect, the weather was a great Minnesota Fall evening, and the family was fun. They came for their son Jack’s senior pictures as well as some family ones. Jack is so well rounded that he is bound for success. He plays the stand up bass, and he is good. If you are in the Anoka area, I would suggest going to listen to him play. While I was going to my car to grab my chair, he was playing some music and the park seemed to come alive. It was so refreshing to hear such a great instrument being played.

Thanks for a fun evening, enjoy these memorable year with your great kids.

Those of us that have lived in Minnesota for any amount of time know that the weather can be EXTREAMLY unpredictable. Last week it was cold and close to freezing temperatures, and now this week it’s been absolutely perfect. And yesterday couldn’t have been any more perfect, especially for the first day of fall. The colors are really starting to change the sumac is a perfect shade of red, the birch trees are showing their golds, and the maples are just beginning to their change as well.

I had the opportunity to meet the Schafer family for their family pictures. What a sweet family, I really enjoyed every minute of my time with them. Hunter is so much like my own Son Tyson, it was easy to know exactly what would make him smile. He is such a great kid. And then sweet Kendell, for only being three years old, she sure was willing to have her picture taken.

Kim and Rory, thank you so much for choosing KDB Photography. It was an honor to capture these images for you. Enjoy the sneak peek.

I have been trying to blog this family session from two weeks ago, but time just keeps getting away from me. So tonight, while their gallery is uploading, I’m blogging.

Tony and Megan have been LONG time loyal customers, and it really is an honor to see them every year. I am so happy to have been a part of some very important memories for them. Their family continues to grow and change. The girls (and Roxy the lab) are growing up and it’s so much fun to literally play with them during our session. Last fall little Eleanor (and Roxy) didn’t want anything to do with pictures, but this time, she was much more into it (Eleanor not Roxy, I think the dog was just hot). And Josephine, well, I can only remember one time when she didn’t want to have her picture taken. She comes ready to be my model every time. She is such a great big sister, and so full of smiles.

Thanks again for a wonderful morning and the cheesecake you made Megan was delicious. You have my cake business!

I seriously love this time of year. I know I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, I LOVE FALL. I love the warm fall colors, I love how everything smells when I walk into the woods, I enjoy meeting new people and I love catching up with old friends. Which is exactly what I did last week with Mark and the three beautiful ladies in his life. Oh my gosh, it’s sessions like this that it’s a good thing the sun is going down, because I really didn’t want to stop. Even despite the sprinkles that were coming down everyone was so cooperative.

Mark and Angela, thanks for the wonderful session, you two truly are blessed. Enjoy the sneak peek.

The Beckers | KDB St Francis MN Family Photographer

October 7th, 2013

All families have their own dynamic, the Becker’s seem to have a few. The first is busy, the second is laughter and the third is LOVE. I really mean that. There is no way to fake the way this family feels about each other. And in case you don’t believe me, take a look for […]

There is no way to fake the way this family feels about each other. And in case you don’t believe me, take a look for yourself, it showed up in front of my camera the other night.

A Mommy Moment | KDB Anoka County Photographer

As a Mom to three great kids, I know how fast the time goes. When your baby or child is in a certain stage, we can’t wait for him or her to be able to do the next stage. From crawling to walking or preschool to kindergarten, middle school to high school, we are always excited for that next stage. But then as our children get older and we look back, we may not have always appreciated what they were doing right then in that moment. I know I am guilty of it, but I am thankful I have pictures to help me remember the good times we had during each of those stages and who we were as a family during that time. One of my favorite quotes is from the Dreamworks Movie Kung Fu Panda, “Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, Today is GIFT that is why it is called the Present”. Today really is a gift, and sometimes we don’t realize how great it really was until we are looking back at it.

Laura, I hope one day when you are looking back at these pictures of you and your sweet baby boy, you will remember how great of a day it was. Thank you for letting me capture these for you.

I love this time of year for multiple reasons, but my main reason is getting to meet so many great High School Seniors. Every senior session I shoot has such a different style to it, which is exactly what I enjoy. Last weeks senior session was with Devon, what a great young man, so polite and easy going. He made me laugh a few times, the moment that stands out is when I was showing him a few images on the LCD screen. He saw his serious face, and told me he could do a better serious than that, which seemed pretty perfected to me :) I shot his session by the Rum River, which is a location that works so well because of the diversity.

I hope you enjoyed the session as much as I did Devon. Enjoy the teasers while I finish up your gallery.
